Never Buy Typical House Warming Presents - Your New Friends Will Thank You For That

By Ana Rivadeneira

Getting house warming gifts after moving into a new place, can be a good time. But it can also be a time of disaster and mayhem too. It is very common practice to re-gift things you hate to other people. This is not a very good way to welcome someone to the street, and if you wouldn't want that to happen to you, then don't go and do it to other people.

I for one do not like receiving gifts that are 15 years old, unless its a collectible, and worth some money. But when you receive a traveling clock radio, that is clearly way out dated, you tend to get a little upset and annoyed.

It is time to take a stand when it comes to giving house warming gifts. It's time to stop the re-gift cycle, it is about time we start giving unique quality gifts that the receiver is actually going to like.

If you wouldn't want this gift, then don't give it out to people, keep it, or throw it away, but just say no to re-gifting. If you want to be a good friend, and an even better neighbor, then you need to get something that is truly unique and one of a kind, not something bought from a novelty shop, or baked in your oven. As funny, or as good as those may taste, you are doing yourself a grave injustice.

Sure, it is the thought that counts, but still, how much thought did you think it even takes to come up with something better than an apron that says "Kiss the cook" ? Not very much at all, I a sure you of this.

If you really try to get them something one of a kind and unique, you will be remember as someone who doesn't like to cheap out when it comes to gift giving, and you might have just made a new friend for life. - 30331
